Derek Adler Derek Adler ifina

Director

Derek Adler is domiciled in the United Kingdom and during his career in the City of London has been regulated by the Financial Services Authority and National Futures Association. Born in 1948, educated in England and Switzerland, he has been involved in the Futures markets since 1974 and has held a number of executive positions with major brokerage companies. In addition, he was previously until March 2000 a director of a publicly quoted Greek company (Athenian Capital Holdings SA) and Chairman of a joint venture company between Athenian and Dexia-BIL.

Currently and during the last decade, he has been a director and founding member of International Financial Administration Group Limited, a fully licensed fund administrator He has links both directly and indirectly with several financial institutions and acts as a consultant to a number of them.

His experience includes the establishment of Offshore Funds and the review, analysis, selection and monitoring of professional money managers. He has served on several committees including the Training and Education Committee of The Alternative Investment Management Association, Chairman of a special advisory board to FINEX, in relation to Offshore Funds, a special advisory committee at LIFFE and is a member of The Securities Institute. He is also a board member of Team BVI, a government sponsored committee.

Sherri Ortiz Chief Operating Officer Sherri Ortiz is responsible for the coordination and implementation of the BVI government’s marketing and promotion strategies conducted on behalf of the financial services industry..

Ms. Ortiz is the former Deputy Financial Secretary for the BVI Government’s Ministry of Finance, where she was responsible for public policy administration, fiscal policy management, and finance and budgetary supervision. She also supervised Treasury Department, Inland Revenue Department, Customs Department, Postal Services of the Government, and served as the Chairman of the BVI Development Bank.

Most recently Ms. Ortiz has managed the Compliance Department at Citco BVI Ltd. and worked as a financial consultant to MWM-Abacus Trust and Management Services Ltd.

Ms. Ortiz holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Financial Management, has completed Masters studies in Business Administration, holds a Diploma of Compliance and is currently working to complete her legal studies towards an LLB.

Anja Breilmann Anja Breilmann Clifford Chance

Anja Breilmann studied law at the University of Bayreuth, Germany, and at the University of Nebraska (College of Law), Lincoln, NE, USA, and also obtained a business diploma. Afterwards, she worked as an academic assistant for the investment fund group in Clifford Chance’s Frankfurt office and as a trainee for an international law firm in Frankfurt.

Since June 2005, Anja works as an associate in the Frankfurt office of Clifford Chance in the area of banking and capital markets. She advises domestic and foreign credit institutions, investment firms and investment companies with respect to various questions of regulatory law. She focuses on asset management activities (on a fund basis and managed account basis), client-facing activities (such as distribution and ancillary services) as well as on insurance supervision and intermediation.

Recently, Anja has advised on the German financial market stability measures, potential changes due to the draft UCITS IV Directive, rules of conduct and compliance measures after the implementation of MiFID and cross-border regulated activities. Anja has also been involved in cross-European ETF projects with various Clifford Chance offices.

Simon is a partner at the BVI office whose practice covers cross border and multi jurisdictional mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance and investment funds.Prior to joining Ogier, Simon practiced at Lovells in London. Simon attended the University of Southampton and graduated with a BSc in Economics and Politics in 1994. Simon then went on to take the CPE in 1995 and LPC in 1996 at the College of Law, London. Training with KPMG London, Nigel qualified as a chartered accountant in 1996 and subsequently joined KPMG British Virgin Islands. When the firm rebranded to Baker Tilly (BVI) Limited in 2004, he was promoted to Senior Manager, and in 2006 he was appointed Director of the Audit and Accounting Department.

Over the last thirteen years Nigel has accumulated an extensive knowledge of the offshore financial services industry in the British Virgin Islands (the “BVI”), specialising in the hedge funds field. He is a sitting member of the BVI Mutual Funds Advisory Committee and has recently advised on various governmental sponsored focus groups. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and is also a member of the British Virgin Islands Association of Professional Accountants.

Prior to this, he worked from 1995 - 2003 at Citibank in Frankfurt and Zurich. At Citibank, Markus-Alexander was a senior fixed income European bond trader, senior equity derivatives trader as well as Director and Country Head Warrants, responsible for Citibank’s complete retail operations in Switzerland.

Laurence O’Connell James Rowsell MF Global

Managing Director of Europe

James Rowsell is managing director of Europe for MF Global Ltd., a leading intermediary offering customized solutions in global cash, derivatives and related markets. Mr. Rowsell oversees operations in London, Paris, Amsterdam and Geneva, and is responsible for the firm’s European growth strategy across asset classes and customer profiles. He joined the company in 2003 and formerly served as global head of equities.


Prior to joining MF Global, Mr. Rowsell spent a number of years at Citigroup, most recently as head of equity sales for Europe. From 1995 to 1998, he was head of sales for the UK and Pan-Europe for HSBC. He also held a number of positions at James Capel & Company between 1988 and 1995, where he specialized in general sales to UK institutions and specialist sales in telecommunications and technology.


Mr. Rowsell qualified as a barrister at the Inns of Court School of Law, which is now a part of the City Law School.
