This week I want to talk about a critical asset to any investment fund: a professional website that attracts investors.

Having worked with numerous fund managers over the years, I’ve managed to establish a very clear idea of what a professional website needs to include. So if you’re in the process of creating your own professional investment fund website, this is what I recommend you include:

1. A Verified Track Record

Most importantly, your website should display some kind of independently verified track record of your fund’s performance. If you’re just starting out, you should consider including a personal verified track record of your trading. It’s important to make your verified track record clear to understand and easy to navigate to. Such verification is arguably the most integral part in attracting new investors. Obviously, they’ll want to be able to see what kind of returns they might get if they invest in your fund.

Of course, you must include all necessary risk disclosures, such as past performance is no guarantee of future performance. The information which is posted on the website must also adhere to the necessary regulation and contain all necessary disclaimers (such as the cited example above). You must also state that the information contained is not a solicitation but is for information purposes only.

2. Investor Testimonials

If you have them, you should also include existing investor testimonials on your website. This acts as more third party verification about your competence as an investment fund manager. Testimonials will likely centre on the returns you’ve generated for your clients, but they can also add additional colour. For example, you should try to secure testimonials that also praise your communication and client management skills.

3. A Regularly Updated Blog

I also recommend maintaining a regular blog to demonstrate your understanding of the financial markets and the asset class(es) you specialise in. The truth is, investors are interested in your ability to understand what moves the markets and why. By writing down your analysis, you stand a better chance of convincing prospective clients of your abilities. It also demonstrates a passion for what you do.

4. Clear Contact Information

This might sound obvious, but it’s critical that you display your contact information (including your telephone number, email address and physical address) in a visible place on your website. You should make it as easy as possible for a prospective client to get in touch with you quickly.

If you need assistance with setting up your own investment fund, just email me. I’d be happy to arrange a call with you.
